SHOOT ANALYSIS (FINAL SELECTION)

Following is the final selection of my photographs for my magazine cover page, double spread analysis and content page too. These photos have been shortlisted on the basis of their technical strengths and also since they represent a good meaning to the whole content.

COVER PHOTOGRAPH:🐾

I captured and selected this image of the model since my model represents the perfect image of a pet. It shows the curious and anxious facial expressions that pets usually have while observing their surroundings. The lighting of the image is quite good too. However my image could also be replaced with another one.

Again this image has a very good lighting. Unlike the images for the cover page with technical faults, this image has the perfect headroom needed and the model is fully visible too. The expressions of my model are as required and he isn't looking away from the camera which makes the image more suitable for the cover image.

Although these are what I shortlisted for my content page, cover page, and double spread respectively but I could also use some for some where else too for instance one of my selected double spread photo could be used for my content page and vice versa, but these are what I shortlisted from many others in the end.

SKETCHES AND ROUGH MOCKUPS

To start with the making of the magazine and moving on to working on the software, all I needed was firstly to make a rough sketch of how I would actually design the cover in regard to the placements and the heading etc. Then I also decided to roughly sketch the double spread too. Here is how i roughly sketched my magazine elements featuring all the components of a magazine to make it look appealing to the audience. I used the online auto draw tool for this purpose which made me design a rough sketch easily. Cover page : For my magazine cover I decided I would put a full shot of my dog (model) from head to toe. As my dog is trained I am looking forward to the fact that it would be easy for me to get a full shot it. However if he's too restless I really wont be able to control how he stands. In that I would take a close up shot and put it in the same way as sketched. It will be picture taken in high key lighting that I have thought would be taken in natural sun light following the ...

SCHEDULE

I didn't have to plan a complicated detailed schedule for my shoot since the model was available at my house at all times but the most important factor that needed to be considered surely affects my schedule making, i.e. lighting. I usually had classes in the morning and would be back by 3-4pm and till then, broad daylight wouldn't have been present at all for a good shoot. Instead I planned to do it on a weekend when I would start the shoot early. -Saturday 12th March. 11am- 1pm This was the day and time I initially planned my shoot but unfortunately the weather was unfavorable and it rained too, which led me to having to delay my dates. -Sunday 13th March I did my shoot on this day on the same timings, I had a broad daylight and the weather worked in my favor too. THE CONCEPTS ELABORATED

Another important part of media studies is how forms and languages are used to convey the products of media and its use of codes and conventions that helps it. These include different signs and symbols to create meaning to something. The most important of them is codes which are used in media and these are actually the connotations to the audience. Initially there are two categories of codes that you'll find in media, one is the technical code and the other is the symbolic code. Technical codes includes all the equipment used to tell a story in a media text and includes camera techniques, framing, depth of field and exposure. Whereas symbolic codes on the other hand show whats beneath the surface of what we see for instance objects, setting, body language, clothing and color.
