EXTENSIVE GENRE RESEARCH: Prominent magazines featuring 'pet dogs'

While there are a few existing magazines about animals be it wild or any other category of animals, there is still a very low number of pet dog magazines worldwide. Animals magazines, wildlife magazines, birdwatching magazines, zoology magazines etc are totally brushed off in the face of many readers which leads to less specifically dog care magazines. Apart from this we still see a number of magazines that put an emphasis on pet dogs and their care.

One really known example of this is the 'Modern Dog Magazine'.

Here we see this magazine dealing with giving the perfect guide to taking care of our dogs (puppies specifically) as the taglines and the cover lines say for instance "30 days to a better dog", "Know your dogs", "natural remedies", "Train your puppy" etc.

The next prominent magazine to feature all about dogs and their grooming is 'Animal Wellness'.

As seen in these magazine covers, the target audience for this magazine too are the dog parents. This magazine also highlights a lot of dog accessories and things related to them that dog owners could buy. Such as the cover lines say "15+ foods that fight cancer", "The best foods for skin allergies", "ovary spraying spray" and many more.

And lastly we have another eminent magazine that talks about the same genre that is 'Dogster'.

This magazine is a fun and informative source for dog owners and lovers. Dogster has everything from advice on ownership, to videos and pictures of various dogs.

Dog care  magazines are rarely found but they are proven a perfect guide to dog parenting and for dog owners and lovers.

PUBLISHING HOUSE

The publishing house that I chose for my animal magazine would be DAWN. DAWN is a well known publishing house since its the oldest english language newspaper/ magazine in Pakistan. They usually have their spotlights on a variety of topics so in my opinion, they will feel no hesitation to publish my genre as well.  Another reason of the less likely chances for DAWN to reject my magazine is the number of people with dogs as pets in our country is quite high, which means that the genre of my magazine will be proven beneficial for many people since it is highly representative.

PHOTOGRAPHY RULES

Photography rules and their information is as important as anything else in media.  We discussed a number of rules that should be considered while we take a photo, and rules that we should knowing while taking our shots. Here are some of the shots I took and the rules that they belong to : DEPTH OF FIELD: 'Depth of field' is used for objects in the background and the foreground. It focuses on the main subject. LEADING LINES: 'Leading Lines' show the effect that the viewer is being dragged towards a specific subject and draw the viewers eye to a specific direction. NOSE ROOM: 'Nose Room' is the space between the subject in a photo and the next moving or still object being looked towards. HEAD ROOM: The 'Head Room' is the space between the subjects head and the top of the frame ie the space of the room.

DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

As far as the distribution of my magazine is concerned, it will be made available in majorly all urban areas that are highly populated. These would be Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Multan in particular since statistics and research states that mostly dog owners are found in these urban areas.   I will be selling my magazine's copies at a fair price in the number of 1000. These will be available at big shops and stalls where mostly the upper class, upper middle class, and the middle class people will have their reach.
