TRYING OUT MY SELECTED FONT

As in one of my previous posts, I stated which house style I would be using for the mast head of my cover page that was Guy Burhy's Grobold.       I applied this font on my selected image for the cover page. This is me working on it and trying to adjust it with the appropriate size and adjustments. At first I wanted it in a smaller size that wont be centralized in a large font at the top of the page but it seemed later on that I had to follow the go-to masthead conventions for magazines either way.

TRYING OUT MY COVER PAGE LAYOUT

I wanted to see if my selected cover image would be able to look good and manage to adjust well on my  rough mock up sketch that I had made a while ago for my main magazines cover page. It was hard to shortlist one from two cover pictures to be really honest, but I had to. Although this should be kept in mind that the mock up sketch I made was entirely rough with even the center shape made a bit distorted.

SHOOT ANALYSIS (FINAL SELECTION)

Following is the final selection of my photographs for my magazine cover page, double spread analysis and content page too. These photos have been shortlisted on the basis of their technical strengths and also since they represent a good meaning to the whole content.  COVER PHOTOGRAPH:🐾 I captured and selected this image of the model since my model represents the perfect image of a pet. It shows the curious and anxious facial expressions that pets usually have while observing their surroundings. The lighting of the image is quite good too. However my image could also be replaced with another one.  Again this image has a very good lighting. Unlike the images for the cover page with technical faults, this image has the perfect headroom needed and the model is fully visible too. The expressions of my model are as required and he isn't looking away from the camera which makes the image more suitable for the cover image. DOUBLE SPREAD PHOTOGRAPHS: 🐾 CONTENT PAGE PHOTOGRAPHS...

SHOOT ANALYSIS (REJECTING SOME)

As talked in one of the previous blogs, I rejected some pictures from both of my shoots since I had found flaws in them and not worthy enough of going on the magazine be it as a cover or anything else. This analysis is going to help me what pictures to use at the final stage. The photos below were rejected on the basis of their technical flaws as explained side by side.  COVER PICTURE:🐾 I would have really liked this as a cover picture but the lighting is too dark and the angle is a bit distorted too.  Although my model looks graceful in this photograph, its head got slightly cut from the top leaving zero head room even for a mid shot.  DOUBLE SPREAD PHOTOGRAPHS:  🐾 The lighting and angle in this shot are perfect for it to be on a double spread but the shot got blurry and the picture got way too much distorted.  The lighting in this shot is too dark and like the technical fault on the cover page photograph, there is no head room in here.
